As a Caregiver, a strength you may reveal – is Competency in the face of the unknown.

Do remember it is also important for you to use competency for you and your needs as a Caregiver.

Competency is often resting in reality

The Caregiver Strength of Competency

Competency is incredible because it will help you to continue, even when you are not getting, the answers you need, to move forward in any direction.

When you are caring and supporting a Loved One,

The first time you do something new, you may feel like a beginner.

Its ok, everybody does, the difference between an amateur and a professional

Is the professional has done it 100x more, then you have.

You may see competency in medical or professional staff or

Competency is something that is earned and learned.

Through lots of practice, and consistent – persistence. You will get it!

Caregiver Story of Competency

The first time a Social Worker came to assess my Loved One.

We were all nervous, and concerned, wondering

Whether we would say and do the right things.

After many visits, my competency as a caregiver improved.

I was beginning to understand what the Assessment was all about.

I could become more able to prepare for the visit.

When we first visited the Specialist, again we wondered what it was all about.

Then by visit 5, we had a little more capability as to what would happen.

Learning new experiences can be exciting and a corridor to help and support.

Remember you have the ability, the skill, and capability to see this through!

Is Competency a strength of yours?- What else are your Strengths?
