1. Caregiver Strength Courage

  • Bravery
  • Guts
  • Daring

As a Caregiver, a strength you may reveal – is Courage in the face of the unknown.

The Caregiver Strength of Courage

Courage is incredible because it will help you to continue, even when you are not getting, the answers you need, to move forward in any direction.

When you are caring and supporting a Loved One,

You may even do superhuman acts, of moving a car of a loved one or

Like getting up in the middle of the night, when you have gotten no sleep at all.

Day after day, month after month, year after year, helping in every way possible.

Courage is often shown in the face of fear

Caregiver Story of Courage

I contacted the Alzheimer’s Association, I needed help, I realized my Loved One was showing signs of Stage 1, 2 & 3 with many signs fast approaching Stage 3 which, is scary because there was no Stage 4…

I asked if the Association could help me, they advised, until I get a diagnosis from a Geriatrician they could not help me. I talked about my Loved One’s symptoms, I pleaded for help, I tried to negotiate another option for help.

None of those options were enough for help from the Association.

No one could help me until I had a diagnosis, which involved a long list of things starting with, contacting His local GP. Then waiting for maybe even months for an appointment for a Geriatrician and doing what that specialist needed to do to ascertain the results of my Loved One’s condition.

On that day, I am so glad, I didn’t know what would need to happen. I was looking for a solution and I knew, I needed more help, then anyone was giving me, now. I did not understand anything about my Loved One’s condition. Memory Loss, Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Age. There are many possible, reasons, Nor would I until, many years had passed with many lessons, and many more life experiences.

Remember you have the grit, the guts, bravery to see this through!

I Have A Dream 4 of 4

“I have a dream today

I have a dream that one day every valley of financial challenges will e exalted.

Every hill and mountain of physical challenges will be made low,

The rough places of social challenges will be made plain,

And the crooked places of psychological challenges will be made straight and

Emotional challenges of all fresh shall see it together,

Getting strength for today and hope for tomorrow!” – Annie Born

As a Caregiver you may not understand some of the risks of Caregiving.

Research has shown, Caregiving can affect your life in these 5 ways

  1. financial,
  2. physical,
  3. social,
  4. psychological,
  5. emotional

The average caregiver is contributing more then $200 per month to caring for a Loved one.

If the Caregiver is self employed, the time is absorbed in less work achieved and less income.

The average caregiver has their physical life impacted,

Either by having a Loved one at home or

Needing to visit a Loved one in their own home or

A Loved One who needs more care then they can handle.

The average Caregiver has their social, psychological & emotional life impacted more then they ever thought.

The interesting thing is sometimes,

Even when the Loved One is being cared by another person,

The Caregiver is often wondering how the Loved One is – coping, enjoying or doing?

Instead of bringing relief, it can be made a more stressful, time.

If you don’t manage you too!

Remember – You need to turn off too, so you can have a break!

You need to take time out for you!

You need to give yourself the gift of time to make time fill your Care Tank.

So often a caregiver is so busy, they forget to go to even visit the doctor for themselves!

Remember – this is important because you cannot live on nothing – you need to eat too!

Research has shown for caregivers over 55, more will die before the person they are caring for,

Not because of a illness they had before, but because they stopped caring for themselves!

That is the reason you are the critical connection!

Critical connection for you and your Loved One to the world!

You need to understand, you need strength for today and hope for tomorrow!

I Have A Dream 3 of 4

“I have a dream today

I have a dream where Caring for Caregivers will be transformed into a daily gift

As a part of caring for the community, city, country, whole world, including you!” – Annie Born

As a Caregiver it can be so easy to give and

Keep giving until there is nothing left to give or until y Care tank is empty.

If we give from a heart of love,

You would thing you would naturally remember to care for ourselves.

Sometimes overtime though, we tend to get BUSY!

  • Busy organising this…
  • Busy helping another person
  • Busy caring for this issue
  • Busy finding a solution for that problem
  • Busy checking in with your Loved One
  • Busy cleaning another mess
  • Busy managing
  • Busy washing the clothes
  • Busy with Doctors visits
  • Busy wondering what the best solution is
  • Busy communicating with family
  • Busy updating the professionals
  • Busy studying the best options
  • Busy getting one professional to do what another professional asks
  • Busy preparing & calming your Loved One

It can be a time where giving yourself a gift of time seems almost impossible.

Yet, mananging this important gift is even more important then any other challenge.

You face as a Caregiver.

You see, the gift of time is to give you something important.

Something tangable, a time for you to do whatever you want or need to do for you.

A time for you to be centered in the eye of the storm of life.

A time for you to fill your Care Tank!

You see, when your care tank is full,

You can help other people more easily.

You support others from a space of abundance

How can you re-energize your own care tank?

Live in a world where they will be encouraged and

Supported for caring for themselves

Allowing – illness, injury or age to be a natural part of life,

Speaking out & Breaking the silence,

Being open to caring for themselves

While caregiving their Loved Ones.” – Annie Born

Often one of the last words you hear is Thank you!

Thank you for everything that you do,

Thank you for all your help,

Thank you for all your support

Thank you for all your giving.

Sometimes, when you care for a Loved One,

You may want to talk with a friend or family member about  your latest,

loss, restentment or challenge

If the other people doesn’t understand, what you are going through.

You can almost immediately see, the other person’s eyes begin to roll.

You know, they are not listening or interesting in listening.

Because, often people want you to keep it quiet, hush, hush.

To keep it under raps.

To hide it behind closed doors,

To keep it within the walls of your house.

It’s time to break the silence of hush, hush.

It’s time to be bold about Caregiving,

It’s time to be bold about Caring for the Caregiver.

It’s time to speak out about the importance of caring for the caregiver.

Whether your Loved one needs, help paying bills, changing a dressing or getting dressed.

You are helping your Loved One in something that he/she is not able to do alone at the moment or anymore.

Whether it is an illness, that is progressive, or because of injury or age.

You can learn Caregiver it can be a natural part of life.

A space to be expected, to care for the Loved One.

Thank you for your critical connection to the world.

For your willingness to take time out and Care for You!
